    In addition to the numerous awards Hormel Foods and our products received in 2010, we were also recognized through several accolades for our unwavering dedication to doing business responsibly.

    • Added to the Dow Jones Sustainability Index for the first time. DJSI is a highly regarded list of the world’s top 10 percent of sustainable companies based on economic, environmental and social criteria.


  • Debuted on the Maplecroft CII Benchmark, a part of the Maplecroft Climate Innovation Indexes (CII). Of the 1,300 evaluated companies, Hormel Foods ranked 126 for its corporate performance in climate-related innovation and carbon management.

  • Ranked No. 339 on the ranking of the Global 1000 Sustainable Performance Leaders for 2009 by CRD Analytics and published by Justmeans, which ranks companies based on publically available financial, environmental, social and governance information.

    • Named No. 40 among the 100 Best Corporate Citizens in the United States by Corporate Responsibility magazine for second year in a row.
    • Included on Forbes magazine’s list of “The 100 Most Trustworthy Companies” as a result of its strong performance and quality of corporate accounting and management practices. Companies named to this list typically perform above average on the stock market.

    These top accolades are a result of the company’s sustainability and financial transparency. During the past year, Hormel Foods fulfilled its goals to achieve high sustainability standards for the food manufacturing industry, including:

    • The sustainable construction of the Progressive Processing LLC production facility in Dubuque, IA, which earned LEED® Gold certification in July 2010.
    • The adoption of a packaging minimization initiative, which reduced packaging in products by 5.6 million pounds.
    • The creation of corporate responsibility standards for suppliers to build on existing quality and safety standards.
    • The continuation of a web-based “Environmental Management System” used to facilitate progress toward meeting environmental requirements.
